Private Executive Search A Look Behind the
Scenes Candidate Reference Comments References are always checked before a candidate is
presented. We speak to four to six references for 30- to 60-minutes on
each candidate, and present their comments with each candidate report. Reference Comments (Excerpt) Frank Morgan is described as someone who is detail-oriented, and gathers input from everyone before making a key decision. He can be so calm that some people see him as disinterested when there is a problem, although most commented that his demeanor has helped him calm the whole organization down when it appeared that they were facing what appeared to be a catastrophe. He’s a good judge of character, and knows how to deal with the range of different personalities that he must face in the role of a senior manager. Among the comments that we heard were: “He has a tremendous knowledge
and commitment to rehabilitation – probably better than I have ever
seen in anyone else, and I’ve been doing this for 28 years.” “His biggest issue is whether true rehab is happening. He loves management and loves patient care.” “He's known for his calm demeanor. You simply don't see him getting worked up, even when everyone else is panicking. He can generally calm other people down when they're in a panic. Some pople misread this, and view him as someone who ignores a problem. That's not the case - he has a different method for problem solving - but until you know him, you might think that he is not attacking every problem." "He has a diligent, detail-oriented approach when facing issues. He doesn't make rash decisions. His solutions will be thoroughly thought out, and he makes decisions only after gathering input from numerous people." “He knows himself well.” "While some managers build teams of people who are like-minded thinkers to themselves, Frank has built a team of people with all types of mindsets and temperaments. He's not uncomfortable having someone who is energetic and excitable - in fact, his number two could be described that way. He's tolerant of different personality types, and encourages us to bring on a mix of different types of people." "He knows how to get the best out of each person, and how to use their quirks to make the organization more effective." "Look at where we were and where we are now. When Frank started, our Press-Ganey scores were at the 50th percentile. Now, our scores are in the 90's. At the same time, he's developed a far better finance/reimbursement team that has enabled us not to get properly paid for what we do. He's taken an organization that had negative cashflow to positive, in a time when most rehab organizations are losing money due to changes in the govenment reimbursement schedules." |
